As you probably know, the racing industry has successfully fought mandatory injury reporting. Those are statistics they do not want us to see! But thanks to a citizens’ initiative, Seminole County, the home of Sanford Orlando Kennel Club, is required to report injuries. And the statistics from this one track, out of 11 in Florida, are grim:
From May 2017 to September 2018, greyhounds racing at the Sanford Orlando Kennel Club have suffered 90 injuries, including 66 broken bones and 5 deaths.
All that pain and suffering, for a $2 bet.
